12 ročních období
kurátor: Jiří Janda
galerie: JJ Galerie, Chomutov
Prostředí, ve kterém Jiří Janda dělal tuto sérii výstav ve své litvínovské galerii, jsem při jakési příležitosti popisoval takto:
I met Jiri Janda for the first time at the occasion of the opening of my small show in his JJ Gallery in Litvinov. One dark, sour evening Jiri put me in his car and took me at the direction of Litvinov. I had never been to the town but I could imagine it was in no way diferent from other sites in the northwest part of Bohemia: decaying heavy industry, poluted air, notorious ”moon landscape“ of huge openworks. All this complemented with rising level of social disquiet, unemployment and racial prejudices. The expectation proved to be rather correct. With addition of dark rain overloading the vipers and morphing the image of the waste land outside, the drive seemed to have all the basic properties of the introductory sceen of an horror movie. Eventually we got to the Litvinov town and in one of the gostly streets we found the gallery.
The gallery was basically a cover name for a conspiration room. Few surviving adepts of cultural life and art lovers hold their secret sessions behind the iron bars of the gallery. The evening missed the art world glamour, instead it offered very personal and very challenging experience. I was impressed by the fact that Jiri had kept the gallery going in this hostile environment for quite some time. The place was dangerous – at least for his artistic career. I have kept track of Jiri‘s activities since.
